Raccoons
Level Goals:
This two-week project focused on creating a lighthearted and engaging game that blended humor, challenge, and reward. The concept was inspired by Disney movies and the mischievous nature of raccoons, aiming to craft a fun and whimsical experience for players.
My responsibilities included designing the map layout, modeling the level in Unity 6, and creating key assets such as tents, trashcans, and RVs in 3D. While the game eventually transitioned to a 2D format, the early focus on 3D helped establish a solid foundation for the level’s layout and design. I also incorporated invisible walls to define boundaries and keep players "in bounds," ensuring clarity within the play area. To bring the environment to life, I researched and integrated low-poly assets with high-quality visuals that aligned with the game’s playful tone.
The gameplay centers on the player taking the role of a raccoon, sneaking through a campground to steal food while avoiding detection by campers. If spotted, an alert bar begins to rise, and the player must run to a trashcan to hide until the camper gives up the chase. The level also features hidden easter eggs that, when found, play humorous voice lines and unlock a cosmetic item that lets the player dress as “Farmer Trent.”
This project was a chance to experiment with creating an accessible, fun environment that encouraged exploration and rewarded players for their curiosity. The process of designing the level, creating assets, and refining the map layout provided valuable insights into balancing challenge and humor in game design while maintaining a cohesive and visually engaging world.
